The book for October was The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommended by Katarina Bivald. It was published in English in 2015, translated from Swedish. It is a work of fiction with some humour and romance. Sarah is the main character who leaves Sweden to visit Broken Wheel, a small town in Iowa. She has been corresponding with Amy, a resident of the town, and they both share a love of books. Sarah knows a lot about the residents through her correspondence with Amy. When she arrives, things don't go quite as planned, but the inhabitants go out of their way to welcome her. The book was an easy read but rather predictable and slow in places, especially towards the end. Some of the group thought the characters were underdeveloped and parts of the book were unrealistic. Most found a lot of humour in it We scored the book as follows:~ 7/10 - 4 members, 6/10 - 3 members,
The book for November was The Wych Elm, a psychological thriller by Tana French published in 2018. The book received very mixed reviews from the group. Some found it gripping with well defined characters and thought it was an enjoyable read. Others felt the book was long and drawn out and took too long to get into the plot. Two members did not finish the book. We scored the book as follows:~ 8/10 - 1 member, 7/10 - 1 member, 6/10 - 1 member, 5/10 - 3 members, 4/10 - 1 member
